DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assures safety for each child in child care. Administer medications.
Maintains
the supplies, order, arrangement, appearance, decor and learning
environment of
the classroom. Greets each child and parent when child arrives and
departs.
Documents all arrival/departure times and daily health observations for
every
child. Participates in developmental program for each child in child
care and
assures documentation of pertinent information. Guides activities for
developmental goals as planned daily. Follows child care schedule or
changes
from child care schedule as appropriate for each child. Completes daily
sheet
including comments daily. Completes documentation of all child care
forms.
Signs and proofs all incident reports before giving to parents in the
absence
of the Lead Teacher. Uses proper sanitary procedures in child care
(diapering,
hand washing).Prepares and serves meals and snacks daily. Reports on
progress
of children in child care to Lead Teacher, Childcare Site Supervisor or
Child
care Coordinator when in question. Serves as appropriate role model for
all
parents participating in child care. Participates in planning and
implementation of educational activities with Lead Teacher. Makes
suggestions
to supervisor for improving child care quality or for improving
services to
clients and families. Performs proper cleaning of all toys, cribs,
cots,
feeding chairs and trays. Completes proper sweeping of floors and
sanitizing of
tables daily before and after serving meals. Attends child care and
general
staff meetings as assigned. Attends staff development program. Reports
all
suspected cases of child abuse or neglect or adult abuse immediately to
supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: High
school diploma or equivalent and CDA. Knowledge
and experience in theories and principles of child growth and
development,
Early Childhood Education, and Family support. Demonstrated ability in
public
speaking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal relation;
and Head
Start Performance Standards. Must be
familiar with all backgrounds of families in the program. Must relate
well to
both children and adults.
QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED:
Minimum of two years experience working with Infants and
Toddlers. Prior
supervising experience. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
