WORKING TITLE:  Early Intervention Specialist                              POSITION #: TCC-155

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:     Assure confidentiality of children, families, and co-workers. Maintain a safe, healthy, clean and orderly work environment. Comply with State of VA Rehabilitation Regulations and all Children’s Center policies and procedures. Participate in the identification of  Part C eligible children. Participate in the development of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Participate as a multidisciplinary team member. Make contacts as indicated in the IFSP. Participate in transition planning. Ensure the family’s procedural safeguards. Provides developmental services to Early Intervention client and his/her caregivers as indicated on client’s IFSP. Instruct client and client’s caregivers in methods of assisting the client. Instruct other agency personnel about aspects of developmental services in which they may work with the client. Cooperate as a transdisciplinary team member, including providing updates to other team members in order to coordinate services as well as reinforce goals of other therapy disciplines who are working with the client. Refer client to appropriate services within and outside of the Children’s Center as needed. Participate in agency in-service training programs and quality assurance reviews.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  High School Diploma or GED with experience in a human service, educational, or health related field. Completion of infant and Toddler Connection of VA Early Intervention Specialist Certification. Familiarity with multicultural background of clients and able to serve and effectively communicate with children, families, coworkers, and the public. Experience with children and early childhood development knowledge.

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:   CDA or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Experience providing developmental services to children and families.
