Educator

DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Assures
confidentiality of children, families, and co-workers. Maintains a
safe, healthy, clean and orderly work environment. Complies with State
of VA Rehabilitation Regulations and all Children’s Center
policies and
procedures. Assists in evaluation of a client and recommends
appropriate
services. Participates as
multidisciplinary team
member in setting realistic outcomes for a client, including
development of
Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), Care Plan, or IEP. Provides
Special
Instruction to Early Intervention client and his/her caregivers as
indicated on
client’s IFSP. Instructs client and client’s caregivers in methods of
assisting
the client. Instructs other agency
personnel about
aspects of special instruction in which they may work with the client. Observes documents and reports to the
attending physician any changes in the client’s condition and response
to
treatment, including discharge information.
Cooperates as a transdisciplinary team member, including
providing
updates to other team members in order to coordinate services as well
as
reinforce goals of other therapy disciplines who are working with the
client. Spends at least the targeted
percentage of available work
hours in direct instruction, assessments, and/or evaluations. Completes
progress notes, productivity stats, and reports according to agency
timelines.
Performs screenings, evaluations, and consultations as requested.
Refers client
to appropriate services within and outside of the Children’s Center as
needed.
Participates in agency in-service training programs and quality
assurance reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master’s
degree or equivalent knowledge and
experience. Demonstrated clinical skills
in special education. Familiarly with multicultural background of
clients and
able to serve and effectively communicate with children, families,
coworkers,
and the public. Experience with children
and early childhood development.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Experience working for a nonprofit agency.
